


Azza Mounib is a well known native Egyptian Dancer/Instructor. She has
been a central figure in the Egyptian/American entertainment arena, and has
performed at international folk festivals in the Washington Metropolitan area
for over 30 years. Her exceptional mix of Egyptian Folk, Baladi and Oriental
dancing, has earned her impressive credentials in this art form. Azza's great
stage presence, grace and artistic abilities, have mesmerized those who
watch her. Those who learn from her, view her in the highest regard.
Azza's unique style has developed and evolved through the superb coaching
of her father, as well as the teaching of the legendary Mr. Mahmoud Reda
and well known Farida Fahmy. She has also worked under the direction of
her special friend Badia Samra' El Nile, as well as Master teachers Mr. Yousry
Sharif, Madams Raqia Hassan and Ida Nour. Her ability to grasp the great
artistic moves of the various dances of Egypt has made her the fine authentic
dancer she is today. She is featured in two videos of the Egyptian Academy
of Oriental Dance. Azza teaches these dances through classes and
workshops. Her easy-going personality and her ability to work with her
students makes learning not only beneficial, but great fun as well.
For this distinctive style of dancing, Azza is now one of the most sought-after
Egyptian dance teachers in the Washington Metropolitan area, as well as
other states. She is known for her authenticity and unique style.
Azza is the granddaughter of the Egyptian comedy legend actress Mary
Mounib, and Fawzi Mounib, one of Egypt's theater pioneers. Daughter of
Egyptian television host, Fouad Mounib, and cousin of the Egyptian star
singer, Amer Mounib. Azza and her brother Amr Mounib, carry on the
Mounib legacy through their dancing
Azza has made a name for herself, appearing on a variety of local, English and
Arabic radio and television networks. She continues to perform the
traditional Egyptian dances at various festivals around the United States, as
well as cultural events such as the "Ana Alarabi Festival", "the Northern
Virginia Folk Festival, the International Folk Festival, and the World's Fair in
Knoxville, TN. She has also danced at several fund raising events, such as
the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, American Cancer
Society, The Faith and Hope Organization, and The Children's Hospital,
Washington, D.C.
Azza's workshops and classes focus on instruction of various dance
movements and hip techniques essential for Egyptian style belly dancing. In
the workshops, students will learn basic and advanced, steps and delicately
unified movements, as well as new Egyptian style choreography.
