Wednesday 7:00 – 7:45 PM (45 minutes for 4 weeks) ($45) Level One (A) - Beginners - Technique
This class is intended for new dancers who have limited to no belly dancing experience and for those who want a quick refresher course. Wednesday 8:00 – 8:45 PM (45 minutes for 4 weeks) ($45) Happy Hips Beginners - Fun Dance non-technique class Happy Hips! A dance class for everyone! In Egypt, where I come from, belly dance, or "baladi," is a folk dance celebrating life, love, community, and friendship, especially among women. In the spirit of celebration, "Happy Hips!" is a class designed to bring all of us together to experience dance as we understand it in Egypt. We will use the basic foundation movements of belly dancing, which are easy to follow and lots of fun. A great low impact workout that improves flexibility and coordination, "Happy Hips!" is suitable for dancers who just want to dance. Happy Hips is not a technique class and no prior experience with belly dancing is necessary. But there will be lots of dancing as we piece our combinations together over the course of the class. 16 years old and up. Dance, dance, dance!!! Tuesday 8:00 - 10:00 PM (2 hours for 4 weeks) $160 Level Three - Technique/Dance (SOLD OUT) This is and advanced class for dancers to put the techniques into practice. This intense class will focus on perfecting the hip techniques taught in Three (A/B) as well as the first and second segment of level three. Dancers will work on advance technique, while working on the perfecting the movements. This class will include: • Drills • Combinations • Practicing smooth transitions and balance • Posture, balance, and body alignment. • Combinations and choreographies • Individuality • Group/team • Visit the various styles of dancing (Sharqi, Baladi, Saiidi, and Shaabi). For this class; dancers must have a clear concept of Egyptian dancing and have studied with Azza for several years. Tuesday night classes will concentrate on Saiddi (Cane), Sagat (Cymbals), and Veil (entrance dance) Prior experience to belly dancing is required for this class. Registration will include (Cane and veil) This class is very limited in size due to the nature of the dances. All classes will start with warm ups, technique review, and finish with dancing drills. Emphasis will be on grace and style as well as frame, posture and presentation. The classes will continue to focuses on developing flexibility and learning proper isolation techniques. |
