KAMANGA (VIOLIN) – This is the Arabic violin, the Arabic violin is
different in it’s tuning, and the playing style is different that that of the
West. The styles are very highly ornamented, with slides, trills, double
stops usually with an open drone string, and as it is a unique instrument
that can produce all shades of tones of Arabic music, the violin was
introduced to the Middle Eastern orchestra in the late 19th century.  It is
frequently the lead or responding instrument in the traditional “call-and
response” of Middle Eastern music.
